Dangerous Sythetic Weed Sold in Town The Copper Basin Coalition dropped off an informational sheet with us that we think you should know about. Youth in our area are doing this in our community. It is a synthetic weed and can’t be detected by UA’s, it is sold at our local tobacco shop for $25.00 a gram. We went yesterday to see how easy it is to get and no problem because it’s sold as a herbal incense. Some symptoms are like a heart attack, red eyes, some appear with all the symptoms of marijuana use but still can’t be detected by drug screening. It’s not illegal, it started in the UK and is now banned there and came to the states. Four states have now outlawed it. We had a youth (in our community) Monday evening use this, taken to the hospital with symptoms of a heart attack, and finally admitted to his parents that he bought this at the tobacco shop and used it. This is the second youth in Arizona to be reported. We are trying to get the word out to parents, first responders, etc., to be aware of what is going on with our youth in our community. |

Read "The Law" SB1070
A federal judge on Wednesday granted a partial injunction requested by the federal government on the controversial Arizona immigration law, SB 1070. U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton has blocked the portion of the law that requires police officers to determine the immigration status of a person detained or arrested. She also struck down the section of law that makes it a crime if someone fails to carry immigration registration papers and the provision that makes it a crime for an illegal immigrant to seek or perform work. In all, Bolton struck down four sections of the law, the ones that opponents called the most controversial parts. Bolton said she was putting those sections on hold until the courts resolve the issues. |
